This page explains what Derbyshire Electrical Specialists does with the information you give us, why we need it, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
1. Who we are
Derbyshire Electrical Specialists is part of Derbyshire Specialists Group, a trading name of Derbyshire Specialists Group Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 13870708, registered office Suite 2 The Point, Mayfield Road, Ilkley, England, LS29 8FL. Our Derby office is at West Point, 22 Brook St, Derby DE1 3TE.
We are the data controller for the information collected through www.derbyshireelectricalspecialists.co.uk. If you want to talk to us about anything on this page, call us on 01332 215477 or email info@derbyshirespecialistsgroup.co.uk.
2. What we collect
When you send us an enquiry through the form, on WhatsApp, by email or by phone, we collect your name, your phone number, your email address, the address of the property the work relates to, anything you tell us in your message, and any photographs or videos you choose to send.
When you browse the site, our website provider records standard technical information such as the pages you visited and roughly where in the country you are. This is used to understand how the site is used and does not identify you by name.
Facebook advertising. The site uses the Meta Pixel, a small piece of code from Meta Platforms, which records that a browser visited our pages so we can measure our Facebook advertising and show our adverts to people who have visited the site. Meta may link this to a Facebook or Instagram account if you are logged in.
Spam protection. Our enquiry form uses Google reCAPTCHA to check that it is being filled in by a person rather than an automated program. Google receives technical information about your device and browser to do this.
We do not buy personal information from anyone else.
3. Why we need it, and our lawful basis
- Reply to your enquiry and prepare a quotation, because it is what you asked us to do. Lawful basis: steps taken at your request before entering a contract.
- Arrange and carry out the work you have booked. Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
- Keep records of quotations and completed work for guarantees, disputes, insurance, certification and tax. Lawful basis: legal obligation, and our legitimate interest in keeping proper records.
- Understand how the website is used, to keep it working and make it more useful. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in running the site properly.
- Protect the enquiry form from spam with reCAPTCHA. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the form secure.
- Measure and target our Facebook advertising with the Meta Pixel. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in promoting the business; see section 7 for how to opt out.
We will not add you to a marketing list because you asked for a quote. If we ever want to send you marketing, we will ask you first, and you can stop it at any time.
4. Photographs you send us
Photographs and videos help us quote accurately without a visit, and we use them for that. We will not publish a photograph of your property, or use it in our own marketing, unless you have told us we can. If you would like a photograph deleted once the job is done, ask us and we will delete it.
5. Who else sees it
We do not sell your information to anyone, and we never will.
Your enquiry may be passed to the installer who covers your area. We work with a network of vetted contractors, and your enquiry goes to the one who can carry out your job. They receive only what they need to contact you and quote: your name, contact details, the property address and your message, together with any photographs. They are responsible for their own handling of your information from that point, and they may not use it for anything other than your enquiry.
Beyond that, your information is seen by the suppliers who run things on our behalf: our website provider, our enquiry form provider (LeadConnector), Google (reCAPTCHA), Meta (the Meta Pixel), WhatsApp if you contact us that way, our email provider and our accountant.
We will disclose information if the law requires it, for example to HMRC, an insurer handling a claim, or a court.
6. How long we keep it
If you enquire and we do not end up doing the work, we keep your enquiry for 24 months and then delete it.
If we do the work, we keep the record for six years after the job is finished. That is the period covered by our guarantee and required for tax records.
7. Cookies and similar technology
The site uses cookies and similar technology for these purposes:
- Making the site work: set by our website platform so pages load and display correctly.
- Counting visits: so we can see which pages are useful.
- Form security: Google reCAPTCHA on the enquiry form.
- Advertising: the Meta Pixel, used to measure and target our Facebook adverts.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site will still work. You can control how Meta uses information from websites in your Facebook or Instagram settings, under ad preferences and "activity off Meta technologies".
Our website, form and advertising providers may process some information outside the UK. Where that happens, it is protected by the safeguards UK data protection law requires.
8. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Show you what we hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete what we hold, where we have no legal reason to keep it
- Stop using it for a particular purpose, or restrict what we do with it
- Send it to you, or to someone else, in a portable format
- Stop marketing, at any time and without giving a reason
Ask by emailing info@derbyshirespecialistsgroup.co.uk or writing to us at the address above. There is no charge, you do not need to give a reason, and we will respond within one month.
9. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information
Tell us first, and we will deal with it. Email info@derbyshirespecialistsgroup.co.uk with the words "Data complaint" in the subject line, call us on 01332 215477, or write to Derbyshire Specialists Group, Suite 2 The Point, Mayfield Road, Ilkley, England, LS29 8FL.
We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and tell you who is looking at it. We aim to give you an answer within three months, and we will keep you posted if it is going to take longer.
If you are still unhappy, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator for data protection, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or by calling 0303 123 1113. Complaining to us first does not affect your right to go to the ICO.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
